The Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department, along with four other fire departments from Door & Kewaunee counties, responded to a fire in the pavilion area behind the Rouer’s Roadhouse Saloon Bar & Grill Saturday night. The first units on the scene arrived just after 8pm, finding the northwest corner fully engulfed in flames, about 15 feet from the main bar building. It took ten minutes for the first engine crew to knock down the flames before crews were able to enter the structure to extinguish the fire that had extended to the roof line. Approximately 8,500 gallons of water was used, and crews cleared the scene at 10:15pm.
Other departments responding included the Southern Door, Nasewaupee, Sturgeon Bay, & Luxemburg fire departments. The Casco department provided stand by at Brussels Union Gardner Station 1, & the Egg Harbor Fire Department assisted in the on scene investigation. Door County EMS, the Sheriff’s office, Wisconsin Public Service, & the Door County 911 Communications Center all assisted.
The fire is still being investigated, but it is possible that it was caused by an electrical problem.
The bar area of the pavilion sustained major damage, the rest of the structure sustained some level of fire, smoke, & water damage, along with the contents of the building, which included freezers, an ATV & a UTV, a skid steer, a boat & numerous other items. The main bar area of Rouer’s Roadhouse was not damaged.
