Destination Door County Launches Green Initiative at Area Festivals


As part of its new Destination Stewardship Plan, Destination Door County has taken up a new Green Initiative Program, which they already put into effect last weekend at Sister Bay’s Marina Fest celebration. Saturday they launched their new water station initiative to be offered at local festivals to help reduce the unnecessary use of plastic water bottles. Director of Community Partnerships Sue Schwartz explains…

Now, with the full festival event behind them, Schwartz says the first weekend of this program was a success, and she shared with us the data which resulted in less plastic in a Door County landfill…

There is more to the program than just reducing the use of single-use plastic bottles, however, as there is also a composting initiative which exists alongside the recycling initiative. Schwartz explains…

Destination Door County will have this new water station system set up at the upcoming Autumn-Fest in Baileys Harbor on September 14th, at Sturgeon Bay’s Harvest Fest September 21st, and at Sister Bay’s Fall Fest the weekend of October 19th.
