Electricity Inches Closer to Eagle Bluff Lighthouse


Last month, we reported on the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse restoration finishing up with Phase 1 of that project, which included much of the immediate stabilization of the structure and more. One final project to finish up this summer is the introduction of electricity to the property. They have been burying a cable from the nearby Welcker’s Point campground to the lighthouse, and Door County Historical Society Executive Director Amy Frank says electricity should be available at the lighthouse soon…

There will be numerous benefits of having electricity at the lighthouse, but Frank says the most important benefit will be the ability to control the temperature and humidity in the structure…

Some folks have asked if the newly installed electricity will help power the actual lighthouse beacon, but Frank says that is the Coast Guard’s responsibility and their decision to make…

The Eagle Bluff Lighthouse remains open for tours from 11AM to 3PM seven days a week through October, and tours cost $5 per person. They will also offer twilight tours September 28th and October 5th at 6PM with live music, storytellers, poetry, and more. For more information you can go online to doorcountyhistoricalsociety.org
