New Mountain Bike Trail at Peninsula State Park

New Mountain Bike Trail at Peninsula State Park

The Friends of Peninsula State Park recently celebrated the opening of phase 1 of a new system of mountain biking trails in the park’s interior. What they call the “Blue Loop” of this system includes 5 miles of trail built by Rock Solid Contracting. The Blue Loop has berms, rock gardens, drops, ruts, and other features enjoyed by avid mountain bikers. This trail system is a collaboration between the park’s friends group and the Wisconsin DNR.
No state funds are used in the construction of this trail. The funding is provided by grants and donations from the Door County Community Fund, Destination Door County, and a number of generous donors. Last February, the project received $150,000 from the Community Investment Grant Fund.
Eventually, the trail system will consist of 18 miles of fun and challenging trail riding, and the project is aiming for full completion in 2026. One of the project’s goals is to provide a superior mountain bike trail riding experience with a priority of ensuring eco-friendly design protecting the environmental balance of one of Wisconsin’s most treasured parks.
