Voters in the school Sevastopol & Washington Island school districts both approved referendums to exceed their revenue limits, and State Representative Joel Kitchens has won re-election in balloting Tuesday.
Sevastopol voters approved an operating referendum with 1,950 Yes votes to 1,667 No votes. The district will be able to exceed the revenue limit for school operations over the next four years. Total amounts will be $4.25 million for the 2025-2026 school year, $4.5 million in the 2026-2027 school year, &, $4.75 million in the 2028 & 2029 school years.
On Washington Island, voters approved a permanent increase of $995,000 for operations. There were 440 Yes votes to 189 No votes.
In the race for State Assembly, incumbent Joel Kitchens won re-election over challenger Renee Paplham, carrying both Door & Kewaunee Counties.
The Town of Sturgeon Bay also had a referendum question regarding the position of Town Clerk & Treasurer. Voters favored the appointment of that position, with 310 Yes votes to 233 No votes.
