Indoor racket sports facility planned in Greendale

A new 15,000-square-foot indoor racket sports facility building is planned at 6190 W. Loomis Road in Greendale. The site is located next to the Sendik’s Fresh2GO store at 6200 W. Loomis Road.

The Village of Greendale has reached an agreement to sell the 0.87-acre parcel of land for $200,000 to Greendale-based Roosevelt Racket Club, which is planning to develop the site into an indoor racket sports facility.

Co-owner Aaron Nowak founded the business with his father, Jeff Nowak, and said the two are passionate about bringing more court access to Milwaukee’s south suburbs.

“We really believe that there’s two missions to what we’re doing,” Nowak said. “To grow the game and expand it and allow people to play who maybe can’t otherwise.”

The facility will feature multiple tennis and pickleball courts, a pro-shop and equipment services for both sports that will be open to the public and members of the club. Aaron said the facility’s name pays tribute to the unique history of the village — one of three places in the U.S. established under President Franklin D. Roosevelt as part of the Greenbelt Towns initiative during the Great Depression.

Village manager Mike Hawes said village officials are “excited to welcome the Roosevelt Racket Club into the community,” sharing that they have received positive feedback from residents who are interested in having a year-round option for tennis and pickleball close to home.

Nowak is also the founder and CEO of Milwaukee-based sports card media company SlabStox. His father and him have worked together at this business for several years. Other members of his family will also be involved in their new racket facility.

As of now, the land purchase agreement remains subject to standard municipal approvals and closing conditions, meaning the project’s development timeline will be announced as plans progress. But Nowak said he’s hopeful that they’ll close the deal later this year, aiming to open the facility by late 2027.
