The Milwaukee Brewers announced today that they have reached an agreement with manager Pat Murphy on a multi-year contract extension.

Terms of the deal were not announced. But according to reports, the deal extends Murphy’s contract through the 2028 season with a team option for 2029.

“Pat Murphy has been an incredible partner and leader here for over a decade,” said Matt Arnold, general manager and president of baseball operations. “I’m thrilled that we have been able to come up with a framework that keeps Murph with the Brewers for years to come and maintains the special relationship that we have established. I look forward to continuing the pursuit of a World Series championship with Murph and his staff.”

Murphy has been a member of the Brewers coaching staff since the 2016 season and was promoted to manager for the 2024 season after Craig Counsell left the Brewers to become manager of the Chicago Cubs.

During Murphy’s two seasons as the Brewers manager, the Brewers have compiled a 190-134 record and finished in first place in the National League Central Division both seasons.

Murphy was named National League Manager of the Year in 2024 and 2025. He is the first Brewers manager ever to win Manager of the Year and one of four managers in Major League Baseball history to win the award in consecutive seasons.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy talks to the media after Game 5 of the 2025 NLDS vs the Cubs.
