Elkhorn-based Midwest Refrigerated Services, a third-party logistics provider of refrigerated transportation and warehousing for the food industry, has named Matt Pomeroy as its president.

Pomeroy is adding president to his existing role as chief financial officer, which he has held since 2020.

Mike Pokel, who has served as president and chief executive officer of the company since 2008, will continue to serve as CEO.

The change was effective April 1, according to a press release from the company.

“We have made the decision to split the current role of president and CEO into two separate positions,” said Pokel. “This change allows for more time to be dedicated toward exploring growth opportunities and developing the next generation of leadership within the organization.”

In his new role, Pomeroy will oversee operations across the company’s transportation, warehousing and human resources departments.

“We believe we have the ideal candidate (for president) already in house,” Pokel said. “(Pomeroy) has been instrumental in streamlining our financial systems and leading initiatives that improved efficiency across the business while supporting profitable growth.”

Midwest Refrigerated Services also announced the promotion of Torye Marek who will now serve as the director of finance, effective April 1. Marek previously served as the company’s director of accounting from 2016 to 2021, and most recently as controller.

Midwest Refrigeration Services has 11 warehouse locations across Wisconsin, Illinois and Iowa.
