Ascension Wisconsin CEO to step down in April

Daniel Jackson

Ascension Wisconsin chief executive officer Daniel Jackson will step down from his role on April 17, according to an Ascension spokesperson.

We are grateful for Daniel’s commitment and dedication to Ascension Wisconsin,” Ascension said in a Thursday statement. “During his tenure, Daniel has been instrumental in enhancing the health of communities in Wisconsin and advancing our ministry’s mission. We wish him continued blessings.”

The statement did not elaborate on the reason for Jackson’s departure.

Scott Cihak, currently chief operating officer for Ascension Wisconsin, will serve as interim CEO, according to the spokesperson.

Amid a leadership shakeup, Jackson joined Ascension in 2023 as interim president and CEO of Ascension Columbia St. Mary’s Hospital – Milwaukee Campus, but was named CEO of Ascension Wisconsin later that year as the health system was experiencing turmoil, including staffing shortages and concerns about patient care.

Ascension Wisconsin is a non-profit Catholic health care organization with more than 165 locations, including 10 hospitals and 8 urgent care locations, primarily in Milwaukee, Racine and the Fox Valley.

Jackson was included in BizTimes Media’s Wisconsin 275 list of the most influential business leaders in the state.
