Oconomowoc-based Silver Lake Auto & Tire Centers is planning to open a second Brookfield location at 645 Main St. near Brookfield Square.
The auto repair company will occupy a 6,500-square-foot space, formerly home to a Goodyear tire shop. The space is undergoing a complete renovation, expanding the current eight-bay shop into a 12-bay repair center “designed for efficiency, comfort, and an enhanced customer experience,” said Darren Garlock, co-owner and director of business acquisition at Silver Lake.
The new shop is expected to open in November and will employ 12 staff members, both new and transferred from existing Silver Lake locations.
“This new location reflects our commitment to growth without compromising on quality,” said Garlock.
The addition of another Brookfield location will increase Silver Lake’s Wisconsin footprint to seven stores located in Brookfield, Hartland, Muskego, New Berlin, Grafton and Oconomowoc. Its other Brookfield location is less than five miles away at 17495 W. Capitol Dr.
All locations operate under the leadership of Darren and his brother Dan Garlock, CEO and president, who have overseen the company since 2015. Prior to 2015, the company was owned and operated by Dan and Darren’s father, Walter “Wally” Garlock, who founded the company in 1973 as a gas station and repair shop called Silver Lake Shell.
The company anticipates nearly doubling its employees in the next five years, Dan told BizTimes in June. Currently, Silver Lake employs roughly 70 people. By 2030, the company expects to employ close to 120 people across seven or eight locations.
