Birch Creek’s Mona Christensen to Retire After 2025 Season

The Birch Creek Music Performance Center has announced the upcoming retirement of the organization’s Executive Director Mona Christensen following Birch Creek’s 50th season in 2025. Christensen has led Birch Creek for the last decade, and during that time they saw significant growth in student enrollment, faculty participation, and concert attendance. She expanded Birch Creek’s programs from only a summer academy for students in percussion & steelpan, symphony, and big band jazz, to newly developed adult music programs and a fall concert series.
The board of trustees is planning to hire a new executive director to start on or before March 1st, and that will provide ample transition time under Christensen’s mentorship before her full retirement date of September 1st, 2025.
Board President Steve Gomoll says Mona has been a transformative leader for Birch Creek, and they are grateful for her dedication to nurturing young musicians and guiding the organization to new heights.
