Clippers Walk-Off Wolves


Sturgeon Bay swept a Packerland Conference baseball doubleheader at Perry Field, 4-3, 5-4, on Tuesday. In the opener, the Clippers took a 2-0 lead on a Bryce Plzak base hit that scored Braylon LaRoche and Patrick Haese only to see the Wolves answer in the bottom of the inning on an RBI triple from Carson Leist that scored Braeden Leist and Carson scored on an error. Danny Lodl and Curt Meyer (RBI) doubled to open the 4th inning and Trey Vanderleest added an RBI single for a 4-2 lead. Algoma answered with a single run in the 4th on a solo home run from Parker Lischka. Ian Fruzyna pitched the first four innings for the win followed by Bryce Plzak for the save. Grand Vandervest, Carson Leist and Lischka all had two hits for the Wolves.

In the nightcap, Sturgeon Bay took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on an RBI single from Meyer. Algoma scored twice in the top of the 6th and 7th innings and took a 4-1 lead to the bottom of the 7th. The Clippers were facing a bases empty/two out situation as Rex Brusky started the winning rally with a single, followed by a walk to Vanderleest and a Haese single that chase Algoma starter Charlie Prokash (12K) as he reached the pitch count limit. Bryce Plzak ripped a 3 run double to tie the game followed by a Caleb Plzak blast into the left center field gap. Curt Meyer gets the win in relief for Sturgeon Bay, while Aiden Jorns led the Wolves to two hits.
