The Southern Door girls basketball team ended a three game losing streak with a 50-42 win over Sturgeon Bay Tuesday. Trailing 28-25 at halftime, the Eagles pulled away late as they outscored the Clippers 25-14 in the second half. Payton Gilbertson and Sophia Counard combined to score all but two of the Eagles (2-1 Packerland / 3-4 overall) points over the final 18 minutes. Gilbertson finished with a game-high 19 points while Counard scored a career-high 16. Sturgeon Bay’s Cady Carlson scored eight straight points to close the first half, sending her team to the locker room with a three point advantage. Carlson scored 15 points to lead the Clippers (1-3 / 3-4). Regan Kasten scored 11 points in the loss while Dasha Yeltysheva finished with 10 points.
