There was a 2nd house fire in the Town of Nasewaupee Wednesday, and similar to the first fire, this one also included one fatality. The first fire on County Road M occurred at 2:30AM, and this 2nd fire was called in just before 7:30PM from a home on Clover Leaf Road, about one mile north of Highway 57. The Door County Sheriff’s Office reports that a responding deputy arrived as the single-family residence was fully engulfed in flames. Two of the home’s occupants were vacated and transported to the Door County Medical Center. A third occupant was located inside the burning home and later pronounced deceased, and was later identified as 64 year old Valerie S. Jacobson. Response to this fire included the fire departments of Nasewaupee, Sturgeon Bay, Southern Door, Brussels-Union-Gardner, and Egg Harbor. Also on scene were Door County EMS and the Door County Sheriff’s Office. Nasewaupee Fire Chief Jacob Schartner reports the fire was extinguished in approximately one hour using up to 25,000 gallons of water. This house fire remains under investigation by the Door County Sheriff’s Office and Nasewaupee Fire & Rescue. No further information is being released at this time, and we will report more on this incident as more information is made available.
