Garage Fire in Rosiere Thursday

After fighting two other house fires in the previous 36 hours, Door County firefighters responded to an emergency call for yet another structure fire Thursday afternoon. Just before 1:15PM, the call came from a home near the intersection of County Road X and Church Road in Rosiere, on the very southern end of the Town of Brussels. Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Captian Jim Wautier explains the scene upon his department’s arrival as the home’s garage was fully engulfed…

The Brussels-Union-Gardner Fire Department responded with a MABAS call for mutual aid going out to the departments of Nasewaupee, Southern Door, Sturgeon Bay, Jacksonport, New Franken, Algoma, Luxemburg, and Casco. Also on scene were Door County EMS, the Door County Sheriff’s Office, and WPS. They were able to extinguish the fire and clear the scene in approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes. Fire Captain Wautier explains how two of the home’s occupants were treated for smoke inhalation…

The home suffered extensive smoke damage, but the attached garage was a total loss. The exact cause of the fire is unknown, but Fire Captain Wautier says they suspect it might have possibly been a lithium battery and charger set as that was the only thing in the garage that was plugged in.
