Mets Upset Sister Bay, Bays & Braves Tied for First in DCL


Maplewood knocked off league leading Sister Bay Sunday 9-4. The Mets led 5-0 after the 5th inning & 9-3 after 7. Adam Gutschow had two hits including a grand slam, Kody Kissinger had two hits, & Mark Villers hit a 2-run homerun. Jeremiah Jahnke had eight strikeouts & picked up the win. Griffen Cole had two hits including a homerun for Sister Bay.

Kolberg beat West Jacksonport 3-1. The Braves led 3-0 after the 4th and never trailed. Jack Peterson had two hits & 2 RBI, winning pitcher Jake Schneider had 10 strikeouts. Kolberg stole 8 bases in the game. Luke Steebs had three of West Jacksonport’s six hits.

Egg Harbor beat Institute 15-5. The Indians scored 5 times in the first & never looked back. Brady Kita had four hits & drove in two runs, Corey Fuller & Eric DeJardine each had two hits & 2 RBI, Joe Sawyer drove in three runs & picked up the win. Quinn Schram & Will Hartman each had two hits.

Washington Island pounded Baileys Harbor 15-3. Caleb Cornell had three hits & drive in five runs. Matt Foss had two hits. Jon Kordon picked up the win for the Islanders. River Pawelski had three hits & Aaron Brey added two in the loss for the A’s.
