More Feedback Sessions for Sturgeon Bay Athletic Complex to be Held

A steering committee of community members and representatives from area organizations are hosting two more upcoming open house events to gather community input regarding a possible indoor/outdoor community athletic complex near Sturgeon Bay’s Memorial Field. The next community feedback session will be Wednesday, January 29th at the Cornerstone Pub in Baileys Harbor from 4-7PM. The second session will be Friday, February 7th at a Sister Bay location yet to be announced.
Committee member Kristen Jeanquart says this facility would complement the Door County YMCA as the Y has no field house. A large flexible indoor space could host volleyball, an indoor playground, winter pickleball, space for canine sports, and various other activities residents now leave the county to enjoy. Near Memorial Field, the outdoor project would focus on facilities jointly owned by the city and the school. City Administrator Josh VanLieshout says the school and these facilities are an important part of keeping families in the community and recruiting new families to the area, and it’s time for strategic investments such as this facility.
Feedback can also be emailed to [email protected].
