There was an emergency call for a wildfire in the Town of Liberty Grove just after 12 noon Wednesday. The call came in for a fire burning in a heavily wooded area just southeast of the intersection of Timberline Road and Europe Lake Road. Due to the area being heavily wooded, Fire Chief Hecht says it was somewhat difficult to access, so they called for mutual aid from the fire departments of Ephraim and Baileys Harbor for manpower and brush trucks. They also had assistance from Apple Outdoor Maintenance, who used a skid-steer to help move some trees for better access, and the Door County Sheriff’s Office and Door County EMS were also on scene. There were up to 25 firefighters who extinguished the blaze with approximately 4,000 gallons of water. All response vehicles were able to clear the scene in about 90 minutes, and there were no injuries reported.
