The Algoma girls basketball team earned their first win of the 2024-2025 season as they beat Luxemburg-Casco Tuesday, 62-60. Down 13 with less than eight minutes left in the second half, the Wolves (1-2) rallied and were down two with under ten seconds to play. Algoma came up with a steal on an inbounds pass and Brooke Mattson got free for a basket. That sent the game to overtime, tied at 51. After Alana Mrotek’s three tied the game at 60 with 15 seconds left in the extra period, Mattson again came up big. Her bucket put Algoma up two and then Luxemburg-Casco came up empty on their final possession. Sierra Slaby scored 18 points to lead the Wolves while Mattson added 15 points. Brianna Bray finished with 19 points to lead the Spartans (0-2) while Sienna Blohowiak chipped in 12 points.
