Work Begins on Eagle Bluff Lighthouse

Work Begins on Eagle Bluff Lighthouse

There are some notable changes happening at the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse in Peninsula State Park right now. First, they are working on some restoration work on the outside of the lighthouse itself. Door County Historical Society Executive Director Amy Frank details some of that work currently happening and what will come next…

Then, the contractor will move on to some immediate stabilization work on the tower, both inside and outside. Frank says the lighthouse opens May 24th, and the workers will be able to work around the visitors, so there will still be tours of the lighthouse while the work is happening. Another big development coming to the property is electricity, and Frank says it will help preserve the structure…

Work planned for the future includes recreating some additional historic structures which used to be on the property a century ago. Frank explains how a study done in 2020 is helping them restore the property to what it was long ago…

Starting May 24th, the lighthouse will be open 11AM to 3PM for tours seven days a week, and the lighthouse tours will cost $5. Admission is free for Door County Historical Society members, military personnel, and veterans.
