The Milwaukee Brewers finished the 2026 regular season with the best record in team history at 103-59, tops in Major League Baseball, and also attracted more fans to American Family Field than last year.
The team finished with a total regular season home game attendance of 2,788,934, up 5.2% from its 2025 home game attendance. This year was the team’s best regular season attendance since 2019, which exceeded 2.9 million.
Brewers home game attendance for 2026, averaging 34,431 per game, ranked 11th in MLB, up from 12th in 2025.
The Brewers this season had better home game attendance than the New York Mets, who were 12th in MLB at 2,712,120 and just behind the Atlanta Braves, who finished with attendance 2,800,446, good for 10th in MLB.
The Chicago Cubs this year led National League Central Division teams with total attendance of 2,969,583, which ranked 6th in MLB. The Brewers home game attendance for 2026 was second best in the division and was 6.1% behind the Cubs.
The Los Angeles Dodgers led MLB in home game attendance this year with 4,034,219, or 49,805 per game. The San Diego Padres were second with total home game attendance of 3,347,081.
As for the other teams in the NL Central Division, the St. Louis Cardinals ranked 19th in MLB with attendance of 2,233,902, 20% below the Brewers; the Cincinnati Reds ranked 21st in MLB with attendance of 1,991,703, 28.6% below the Brewers; and the Pittsburgh Pirates ranked 26th in MLB with attendance of 1,704,229, 38.9% below the Brewers.
Home game attendance provides a major revenue source to Major League Baseball teams, which contributes to their ability to spend money on players. The Brewers team payroll for 2026 was $143.5 million, which ranked 19th in MLB, according to a recent story in USA Today. While the Brewers rank higher for home game attendance, they are at the low end in MLB for local broadcast revenue, because the Milwaukee metro area is the smallest in MLB.
The Mets had the highest player payroll in MLB in 2026 at $346 million, but failed to make the playoffs. The Dodgers were second highest at $338 million. The Cubs ranked 8th and the highest in the NL Central at $248.8 million, but finished 14 games behind the Brewers in the division standings.
The playoffs begin on Saturday at American Family Field for the Brewers, who will face the winner of the Padres vs. Cubs Wild Card Series this week in San Diego.
