Milwaukee-based water heater and water treatment products manufacturer A.O. Smith has named Carrie Anderson as its next executive vice president and chief financial officer.

Anderson, who will begin her role on July 1, succeeds Charles Lauber, who will retire from the company after serving in various leadership roles for more than 26 years. Lauber will remain with the company through the end of September to ensure continuity during the transition, according to a press release.

The company gave Anderson $1.5 million in stock as a signing incentive, according to filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission. She will have full ownership of the stocks after three years with the company.

Anderson previously served as CFO of Camden, New Jersey-based The Campbell’s Co., and before that as executive vice president and CFO at Integra LifeSciences, and senior finance leadership at Dover Corp. and Delphi. She also worked at General Motors early in her career.

She earned a bachelor’s degree from Purdue University and an MBA from Ball State University. Anderson serves on the board of directors of Embecta Corp., the release said.

“We are pleased to welcome a leader with (Anderson’s) depth of experience across complex industrial and manufacturing organizations,” said Steve Shafer, president and CEO of A.O. Smith. “Her capabilities in strategic execution, corporate development and operational excellence will be instrumental as we advance our long-term growth and transformation objectives.”

Lauber, who has served as executive vice president and CFO since 2019, first joined the company in 1999 and has served in a number of roles including vice president and controller of the former electrical products company division, vice president, global finance for electrical products, and senior vice president and group CFO for the former water products company division. He is a board member for the National Association of Manufacturers and H.B. Fuller.

“On behalf of everyone at A. O. Smith, I want to thank (Lauber) for his leadership and contributions over the past 26 years,” said Shafer. “He has helped lead the company through significant changes and strengthened our leadership position in water technology. We wish (Lauber) all the best in his well-earned retirement.”
