MATC board extends president’s contract through 2030

Anthony Cruz

The Milwaukee Area Technical College Board of Directors voted recently to extend MATC president Anthony Cruz‘s contract through June 2030.

“I am deeply grateful to the board for their confidence, trust and continued support,” said Cruz, who was named the college’s president in July 2024, in a statement. “It is a privilege to lead an institution that transforms lives through education, workforce development and economic mobility. This extension reflects the extraordinary dedication of our faculty, staff, community partners and board members who work every day to create opportunity for others.”

The contract extension comes as MATC advances its five-year strategic plan, called Ascend Together, which was launched last year. The plan prioritizes student success, expanded community and employer partnerships, economic opportunity, and fostering a supportive workplace culture for employees.

“I remain committed to keeping student success our north star and ensuring MATC is the best choice in education,” Cruz said. “The best is yet to come.“
