Milwaukee-based residential architecture and interior design firm Deep River Partners announced the transition of ownership to architect Nicholas Blavat.
Richard Sherer, who founded the firm in 1999, is stepping back from ownership following a succession process that began more than five years ago when Blavat was named partner.
Sherer will continue to serve clients, design schematic visions, and contribute creatively, the firm said.

Blavat joined the firm in late 2004 as an architectural design associate.
The ownership transition has been implemented over the past year, the firm said.
“Nick consistently shows dedication to our company in any area that needs attention,” said Sherer. “His unwavering commitment to our clients, design innovation, and mentorship of our team have helped shape Deep River into the respected firm it is today.”
“This firm was built on a remarkable foundation,” said Blavat. “I’m honored to continue shaping that legacy and excited for what is ahead. Our story will continue—with creativity, dedication, and a focus on design excellence for clients.”
Blavat holds both bachelor of architectural sciences and master of architecture degrees from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee.
